Centennial School was designed by James F. Alexander when he was a member the firm of Melton & Alexander, carpenters and builders. About that same time Alexander left the partnership of four years to work as an independent architect. Centennial School was a major landmark for the surrounding neighborhood, which is now Historic Centennial Neighborhood. After the building was demolished in 1971, the site became Centennial Park.
