The hospital of the Indiana State Soldiers' Home was a critical part of the complex and was rewmodeled and expanded periodically. The central pavilion was extended to the rear and the side wings received L-shaped additions forming two internal courtyards. The 1907-1908 addition appears to have been the W-shaped complex adjacent to the original building. The hospital was demolished c.1971 after new facilities were built on the former Esplanade.
