This house was built in 1884 for Henry Taylor, owner of the successful Henry Taylor Lumber Company. Taylor died shortly after its completion and the house was occupied by his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William F. Stillwell. It was acquired by the Lamda Chi Alpha fraternity in the 1910s for use as a fraternity house. A destructive fire around 1921-1922 destroyed the original roof and attic floor of the house. After the fire the second floor was remodeled and a new third floor added. The house served as a fraternity throughout the 1920s, later being used as a sanitarium. It became a private residence again around the 1950s and it has been well-preserved by its present owners.
