Reconstruction of Post Office Block
( Chase Block / Winski Building )
| Dates: | 1870, demolished 1952 |
| Location: | Northeast corner Fourth and Ferry Streets |
| Architect: | William H. Brown |
Apparently rebuilt from ruins of Opera House & Post Office Block built c.1865-1866 which burned Dec. 27, 1869. This new Post Office Block had a different appearance from the earlier Opera House & Post Office Block, and did not contain an Opera House. It was later known as the Chase Block and last as the Winski Building. It was demolished, along with two adjacent buildings, for a parking lot.
