McCracken County Jail
| Dates: | c.1882, demolished 1930s |
| Location: | Paducah, Kentucky |
| Rotary Jail: | Haugh, Ketcham & Co., of Indianapolis |
| Cost: | about $19,400 |
The McCracken County Jail was mentioned in an 1882 letter from Haugh, Ketcham & Co. advertising its rotary jail. “to fully appreciate our new mode of securing and handling prisoners you ought to see our ‘Rotary’ now in good working order at Crawfordsville, Ind. and another at Paducah, Ky." The Tippecanoe County (Indiana) Historical Association (TCHA) has the letter in its collections. Apparently the jail was complete at the time the letter was written, suggesting that it was built about the same time as the Montgomery County Jail (1881-1882). Other sources give the date 1884. The building was demolished in the 1930s to make way for a WPA Project.
The web site of the McCracken County Jail includes a history page with a photograph of the rotary jail building.
